New Township Building Project
A Brief Summary
On September 1, 2021 the Upper Dublin community was in the direct path of an eight-mile long by 400-yard-wide EF-2 tornado associated with Hurricane Ida. In a brief 14-minute period unimaginable devastation was left in the path of 130 mph winds, with destruction exacerbated by five hours of heavy rains that followed. The storm claimed one life and generated millions of dollars in damages to more than 1,500 public, private and institutional properties including the Upper Dublin Township Municipal Complex (Administrative Offices, Police Department, and Public Works Building).
The damage to the Township Facility was caused not only by the tornadic winds themselves, but also by windblown debris from surrounding structures and fallen trees. Large portions of the roof were blown off during the storm, causing structural damage, damage to mechanical, electrical, communications systems, security and life safety systems, and extensive water damage to the facility.
Presently, the Township is in the process of recovering from this disaster, along with a later pipe break that occurred on December 25, 2022 in the previously-thought-salvageable portion of the building which subsequently revealed hidden issues within the facility which predated the tornado.

Township Building Project discussion items include insurance claims, consultants, grants, leases, bids, the 12/25/22 pipe break incident, and the development, design, & construction of the Public Works Building, Police Department, & Township Building.

Additionally, each agenda item listed will have a timestamp indicating where that discussion took place within the linked recording.
