Yard Waste Procedures

Yard Waste Procedures (Area A)

Yard waste is collected once each week during the yard waste program (March-November). Please place your green yard waste cart at the curb the night before your collection day on the same side that you place your trash & recycling carts. Carts should be placed at least one foot (1') apart and three feet (3') away from obstructions such as utility poles, mailboxes, and cars. Do not place yard waste carts out more than one day in advance, and retrieve them on the same day as collection.

Yard waste material must be contained in the green yard waste cart and the lid must close. There should be no contents that protrude from the closed lid and the cart should not be overstuffed/overpacked.

  • A maximum of nine (9) containers, paper bags and/or bundles total may be placed curbside.
    • Brush and/or tree limbs (not more than 6" in diameter) must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or tied into bundles (with twine) not exceeding 4' in length and 50 pounds.
    • Please make every effort to contain yard waste in wheeled containers or liftable bags/bundles to help Public Works crews load more efficiently.
      • All containers must have handles.
    • The following will not be taken: Dirt, sod, rocks, tree stumps, stump grindings, bamboo, logs, root balls, wood chips, or branches exceeding 6" in diameter. Please hire a private contractor for these materials.
  • Please do not:
    • Use the brown refuse cart for yard waste.
    • Use compostable bags or any plastic bags for any material or food scraps (these bags do not breakdown fast enough for our program).

Significant Yard Waste

If you have a significant amount of yard waste, you may do any of the following:

  • Drop it off at the Compost Site Facility on Camp Hill Road (open various Saturdays and during the week).
  • Hire a private contractor to dispose of it.
  • Place the maximum weekly amount at the curb for the Township to collect over a period of several weeks.
