Fire Protection Systems Permits

Above & Underground Flammable/Combustible Storage Tanks

Flammable & Combustible Storage Tanks Installations and Removal must be compliance with the appropriate NFPA Standard as appliable section of Chapter 57 (Flammable and combustible Liquids) of the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code.

Installation or Removal of a tank(s) shall be completed by a recognized contractor who is an experienced specialist in both installation and removal of either above or underground flammable/combustible storage tanks.

Removal

1. Copy of PA DEP Certification or PA Department of labor Residential Contractor Registration
2. When Applicable – PA One Call Notification at least 10 days prior to start of project
3. Closure Report and/or Disposal Report provided to the Office of the Fire Marshal

Installation

1. Copy of PA DEP Certification or PA Department of labor Residential Contractor Registration
2. When Applicable – Pa One Call Notification at least 10 days prior to start of project
3. Technical data information for equipment that is being installed

Application Submission

• All information is required to be submitted as a complete package.
• Payment should be submitted at the same time (see fee schedule below). If not, Upper Dublin Township will invoice the responsible party.

Application Review 

The review will not be completed until confirmation of payment of all fees.

• Depending upon the complexity of the submittal package, Upper Dublin Township might employee a Third-Party Agency to conduct the review. A separate invoice will be issued for this review.
• Upon completion of review, the documents will be marked as Approved, Rejected with comments.
• 24 Hour notice must be provided for any and all required inspections as noted on the Permit.

Fire Alarm Permit Application Requirements

Fire Alarm System must be designed in accordance with the applicable 2016 edition of NFPA 72 as well as the applicable section of Chapter 9 (Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems) of the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code.

The Fire Alarm System Design and Installation shall be performed by a recognized Fire Alarm Contractor who is an experienced specialist in design and construction of Automatic Fire Alarm Systems.

Fire Sprinkler Permit Application must include all of the following information:

1. Two sets of NICET Level III (minimum) sealed designed plans
2. When applicable – Two sets of battery calculations
3. Technical Sheets for all devices, appliances and fixtures to be installed
4. Completed Workers Compensation Insurance Declaration Information
   • Upper Dublin Township must be named as Certificate holder
5. Permit application package must be completed and submitted as a full package

3. Technical Sheets for all devices, appliances and fixtures to be installed
4. Completed Workers Compensation Insurance Declaration Information
   • Upper Dublin Township must be named as Certificate holder
5. Permit application package must be completed and submitted as a full package

Specialty Fire Suppression Systems must be designed in accordance with the appropriate NFPA as appliable section of Chapter 9 (Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems) of the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code.

The Specialty Fire Suppression System Design and Installation shall be performed by a recognized Fire Suppression Contractor who is an experienced specialist in design and construction of Specialty Fire Suppression Systems.

Fire Sprinkler Permit Application must include all of the following information:

1. Two sets of NICET Level III (minimum) sealed designed plans
2. When applicable – Two sets of the agent calculation data report
3. Technical Sheets for all devices, appliances and fixtures to be installed
4. Completed Workers Compensation Insurance Declaration Information
   1. Upper Dublin Township must be named as Certificate holder
5. Permit application package must be completed and submitted as a full package
