AGENDA-Fort Washington Traffic Calming, 4/20/2017

A Community Meeting was held on Thursday evening, April 20, 2017 at the Fort Washington Fire House to discuss Fort Washington neighborhood traffic issues.

Between 40 and 50 people attended to discuss the residential area bounded by Pennsylvania Avenue, Bethlehem Pike, Highland Avenue and Madison Avenue. Issues related to cut-through traffic, speeding, pedestrian safety, sidewalks, parking and the impact of the SEPTA Regional Rail Station were discussed. Data collection efforts summarizing peak hour traffic counts, speed studies and crash histories were presented. Some examples of traffic calming measures were shown to the group and discussed to gauge first reactions.

The engineering team prepared traffic calming recommendations for the Township's review.

A study has been commissioned by Upper Dublin Township of the traffic in Fort Washington and Elliger Park.
