Christmas Tree Collection

Christmas Trees will be collected curbside on your first three regular trash collection days in 2023.

Please do not place your tree in a plastic bag. All decorations and stands must be removed. Trees are composted by the Township.

*All Christmas trees are taken to the township compost site.

Information is subject to change, due to various conditions.

Smoke Detector Disposal

Smoke detectors with regular alkaline batteries (9-Volt, AA, etc.) may be disposed of in the regular household trash (both the smoke detectors and the batteries).

Batteries in 10-year smoke detectors are Lithium, so they are handled much differently. They cannot be disposed of in the trash (or recycling) as they can (and do) cause fires in collection trucks and the processing plant.

To dispose of Lithium batteries from 10-year smoke detectors:
Residents should remove the Lithium batteries from the 10-year smoke detectors and take the batteries to a Household Hazardous Waste Collection (here is list of accepted items) or the kiosk drop boxes at certain retail outlets. After the Lithium battery is removed, the smoke detector itself may be safely disposed of in the regular household trash. Residents can also use call2recycle.org
