Recycling Program

Recycling Program and Schedule

Upper Dublin Township has teamed up with RecycleBank to offer a curbside recycling program that rewards residents for recycling! The Township recycles using RecycleBank Carts on wheels. Residents may keep their old green recycling bins or return them by leaving them empty at the curb. Recycling is picked up the same day as your trash pick up. See the trash collection page for a schedule of holidays when recycling is moved to a Wednesday.

RecycleBank Rewards - It Pays to Recycle in Upper Dublin!

The amount your home recycles is translated into RecycleBank Rewards that you can use at participating stores, such as Starbucks, Rich's Deli, Rite-Aid, ACME, Borders, Glen Center Pharmacy, 1-800-Flowers, Make the Grade Academic Services, Buckman’s Ski Shop, Sweet Bytes Café and select stores in the Montgomery Mall. TO CLAIM YOUR REWARDS FOR RECYCLING, visit www.recyclebank.com.

May 5, 2008 the Rewards program changed from RecycleBank Dollars to RecycleBank Points. RecycleBank revamped and recharged their website and rewards program. They've made it easier than ever to earn and redeem your rewards and are calling it "Points in the Right Direction." No worries, you get to keep the RecycleBank Dollars you have already earned - they are converted directly to RecycleBank Points. Here's the new math: 1 RecycleBank Dollar = 20 RecycleBank Points. Go to www.recyclebank.com to claim your rewards. Keep on Recycling!

RecycleBank Cart

Residents receive a 64-gallon RecycleBank Cart with wheels at no cost. The RecycleBank program allows residents to place all of their recyclables into one container. On scheduled recycling days, the container is weighed and a computer chip embedded in the container is scanned.

***PLEASE NOTE: Keep the Brown Refuse Cart and the RecycleBank Cart at least 4 feet apart.

Strategies to reduce unwanted catalogs. Consumers can sign up for the free Catalog Choice Service. Users find the catalogs they receive on a list, then enter their customer identification numbers from the mailing labels to decline the catalogs. Catalog Choice then contacts the catalog providers and request that the names be removed from their mailing lists. This service is sponsored by the Ecology Center of California and is endorsed by the National Wildlife Federation, the Natural Resources Defense council and funded by the Overbrook Foundation, the Merck Family Fund, and the Kendeda Fund. Another way to reduce unwanted catalogs is to register with the Direct Marketing Association's Mail Preference Service for a $1 fee.

**What is #1 & #2 Plastic?

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET, PETE) is classified as #1 plastic. PET is a clear, tough plastic commonly used in soft drink bottles.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is classified as #2 plastic. HDPE is a plastic commonly used to make bottles for milk, juice, water and laundry products. Look on the bottom of the plastic bottle to find a recycling symbol with a #1 or #2 in its center. If there is any number other than #1 or #2 OR no markings at all, discard the item with regular household trash.

Please note: It is very important to remove and discard all bottle caps. These caps are almost always a different type of plastic. Even a small amount of the wrong type of plastic can prevent the plastic bottles from being recycled.

Please remember: we only accept #1 and #2 plastic BOTTLES. Not all #2 plastics are acceptable, such as plastic buckets used for pool supplies or kitty litter buckets.
