Community Broadband Timeline and Milestones

10/14/2008 Ira Tackel reported to the Board of Commissioners at their Stated Meeting on the status of the Community Broadband project and negotiations. The Township has in hand a technically feasible state-of-the-art broadband wireless design, as well as, a viable financial model, but the negotiations with the company that made the most comprehensive spectrum and hardware proposal to the Township, are not proceeding. Given the various risks, the Township cannot prudently proceed with this project at this time and the Community Broadband Steering Committee activities are suspended. Ira publicly thanked the entire committee for their service.
06/10/2008 A motion was approved by a vote of 6 to 1 by the Upper Dublin Township Board of Commissioners at their Tuesday, June 10, 2008 Stated Meeting: "The Board of Commissioners of Upper Dublin Township authorize the appropriate Township Staff to actively negotiate and make recommendations for an agreement with NextWave Wireless, Inc. for the development and formal proposal of a viable municipally owned broadband network conforming to the guidelines and recommendations established by the Community Broadband Steering Committee. It is understood that such an agreement will be subject to separate and thorough review and consideration by the Board."

07/10/2007 Status presentation to the Board of Commissioners by Committee Chair, Commissioner Ira S. Tackel. Steering committee meets monthly.
09/13/2006 Town Meeting Presentation by steering committee.
12/31/2005 Pilot Program went live with a handful of residents. Long-term direction being investigated by a steering committee appointed by the Board of Commissioners.
