The UDPL seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and imaginative public library professional for an exciting opportunity educating children, parents/caregivers and families in our active children’s services department. The incumbent in this position manages all areas of learning for children (birth – 12 years), parents/caregivers and families in a fast-paced environment, including: collection development, readers’ advisory, program planning & implementation and outreach. A key member of the UDPL team, the ideal candidate will be an advocate for children’s services, capable of interacting well with residents of all ages and will maintain and grow the UDPL’s well-established ties with Upper Dublin schools. The best candidate recognizes the unique needs of children in the world today, and imagines how to interweave the latest technology into the best of traditional library programming and resources.
Located in Fort Washington, PA, and open 66 hours/week, the UDPL is a bustling and much-loved resource for the 25,569 residents of Upper Dublin Township and those who visit from neighboring communities. The UDPL maintains a collection of 110,000 tangible items plus a variety of virtual resources, like eBooks, 24/7. In 2013, circulation was 346,000 and over 18,000 people attended programs for all ages. Most recently, the UDPL completed renovations to update its 20-year-old facility, including a remodeled children’s area entitled Kids Place. The UDPL received the honor of being named a Family Place Library in 2012.
Salary and Requirements: $45,000 - $49,000 plus attractive benefits package. ALA-accredited MLS required. A genuine love of interacting with and educating children (ages birth to 12 years) is a must. Strong knowledge of children’s literature, resources and emerging technologies as they relate to children’s services required. Work schedules are determined by departmental need, but this position requires early morning, evening and weekend hours as well as flexibility in scheduling.

Upper Dublin Township seeks to hire a qualified individual for the part-time position of Customer Service Representative (CSR) in the Department of Parks & Recreation. The position, shared by two other part-time employees, requires the individual to work a regular, part-time work schedule, 8:45 am to 1:00 pm on Mondays and 1:00 pm to 5:00pm on Thursdays and Fridays. As a result of other CSR’s days off, vacations and personal commitments, there may be opportunities to work additional hours. Changes are usually discussed and negotiated at least one month in advance.
